Dalit Philanthropy Foundation Mission

“ Promote and support marginalized communities and individuals to maximize their potential in addressing socio-economic prosperity, justice, and in strengthening dalit philanthropy issues. ”

KEY FOCUS AREAS AND APPROACH DPF

Dalit Philanthropy Foundation (DPF) aims to promote and strengthen the below three key focus areas within marginalized communities:

Socio-economic development through nurturing and supporting young entrepreneurs and social change leaders from marginalized communities Key Focus Area 1

What is it?
Socio-economic exclusion is at the core of the backwardness of dalits as well as in other marginalized communities. Leveraging upon market forces as well as upon available Government support, economic independence/prosperity can be a powerful tool for poverty alleviation, better standard of living, and integration with society.

DPF approach:
DPF aims at identifying and nurturing promising young entrepreneurs with intensive training, mentorship and capital support. The ideas/entrepreneurs to be supported must be focused on greater social good and some aspect of giving back to the community at their core mission.

Outcome envisaged (envisaged):
A regular cohort (year by year) of high-impact community entrepreneurs and social change leaders from marginalized communities will help make progress towards economic and social development. These empowered individuals are expected to give back to the next generation of entrepreneurs and change leaders to create a self-sustained cycle of progress.

Promoting entrepreneurs and social change leaders from marginalized communitiesKey Focus Area 2

What is it?
Community Philanthropy is an approach with which the communities increasingly rely on the indigenous knowledge and expertise as well as resources available within the community to address key structural issues and bring positive changes.

DPF approach:
: DPF aims to promote and strengthen community philanthropy by supporting a mix of community collectives and promising community leaders to drive the change.

Outcome envisaged (envisaged):
The ultimate outcomes envisaged are a collective of community institutions and community leaders who are largely self-sufficient and successfully address their long-standing issues.
